Four days, with a night in a hut, to learn how to manage your safety and improve you skills on rocky, glaciated and mixed terrain. You climb independently from your guide - roped together in small teams of a maximum of three or four people - but under his or her direct supervision.
Independence and safety in the mountains are the watchwords for this course, which is the logical next step after the ‘Introduction to mountaineering’ courses.
Day 1 and Day 2: Day routes in the Mont Blanc Massif
Examples of routes include the Frêtes des Charmoz (2500m), Petite Aiguille Verte (3512m), and Lames Fontaines (2750m).
Day 3 and Day 4: Routes starting from the Aiguille du Midi with night in the Cosmiques hut (3613m)
Examples of routes include the Arête des Cosmiques (3842m), Pointes Lachenal (3613m), and Rognon du Plan (3601m).
During these four days, and though the routes climbed, you can improve your technique on rocky, glaciated and mixed terrain, including crampon use, roping up, placing of protection, stances, and abseils… There will also be an emphasis on safety, including crevasse rescue, reading the terrain and assessing the conditions…
