For strong walkers who want to spend time in the high mountains.
This tour is the perfect transition from trail walking to glacier walking.
On this tour, you will discover the magical Valley crossing from the Aiguille du Midi.
Then, you will walk over to the Italian side of the Mont-Blanc massif before heading over to Switzerland.
You will complete the tour by climbing the Tête Blanche, the highest summit in the Eastern part of the range.
This is a super 5-day-program which crosses three countries and fully explores the treasures of the famous Mont-Blanc range !

Day 1 : We ride the cog-train to Montenvers and spend the day practicing mountaineering techniques on Mer de Glace glacier (1 913 m, 6 500 ft). We get familiar with the use of crampons, and practice hiking with a rope on glaciers. Later in the afternoon we ride the tram to Aiguille du Midi (3 842 m, 12 000 ft) to spend the night at the Cosmiques Hut (3 613m).
Day 2 : Vallée Blanche traverse
We leave the hut and hike across the splendid Vallée Blanche, deep into the Mont Blanc massif. On the way for Entrèves pass (3 624m), we get within walking distance of the « giants of the range » (Mont-Blanc du Tacul, Tour Ronde, Mont-Blanc). The Helbronner tram takes us down into Italy – Entreves (1 370m). After a short bus shuttle, we reach the Italian Val Ferret and the hamlet of Lavachey (1 642m) where you will spend the night.

Day 3 : From Italy to Switzerland
Our crampons will stay inside our packs during this casual yet splendid hike on trails from Italy into Switzerland. We hike up to Col Ferret (2 537 m) through alpine pastures. At the top of the pass the trail winds down the lush and peaceful pastures of the Swiss Val Ferret and the Wallis region. Once in the village of La Fouly (1 594 m), we take the bus to Champex where we’ll spend the night.
Elevation gain : 895 m - Vertical loss : 945 m
Day 4 : From Champex to Trient Hut
After a short ride on the Breya chairlift (2 188 m), we head towards Orny glacier. We hike across it and reach the moraine. We finally follow a well-marked trail to Trient Hut (3 170m) where we’ll spend the night.
Elevation gain : 982 m
Day 5 : From Trient hut to Le Tour village
From the hut, we hike across Trient Glacier in the direction of the upper Tour Noir pass, before climbing up to the summit of Tête Blanche : 3 422 m. This peak offers a stunning view over the various summits of the Mont Blanc range and the nearby Swiss Wallis region. We hike down to Albert 1er hut and finally make our way down into the valley and the village of Le Tour.
Elevation gain : 252 m - Vertical loss : 1 242 m
The guide may have to adapt the route to weather conditions and/or to group physical and technical ability.
Departure of the 25th of July: 2 people booked.
In good shape: Can daily hike and/or climb vertical gain ranging from 700 to 1000 meters, 5 to 6 hours at a moderate hiking pace. Focus is laid on activity discovery and practice. For strong and dynamic hikers, looking for a first experience in multi-day hiking trip.
Approach to glacier hiking: For first timers who wish to learn basic glacier hiking techniques (hiking with crampons, roping up, elementary knots etc.)
Minimum 4 and maximum 6 people per guide.
In terms of group size, the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix's guiding policy is one of the strictest in the mountain guiding industry.
Nights in dormitory : 2 nights in catered mountain huts and 2 nights in village inn.
Picnic for lunch, dinner & breakfast in mountain huts or inns.
Water is not provided in the hut. Bring some cash (Euros & Swiss francs) for your drinks.

ID or valid passport.
Having a repatriation insurance is mandatory. Cancellation insurance is highly recommended.

Rendez-vous at 8.30am, at the Compagnie des Guides’ office, 190 place de l’Eglise, in Chamonix.
You’ll be back in Chamonix in the afternoon on saturday.
