Only an hour away from Chamonix, join us for this original tour, connecting Val de Rhême to Valsavarenche, and including the ascent of Gran Paradiso (4 061 m). The route is entirely in the Gran Paradiso National Park, an alpine flora and fauna sanctuary (ibex, mountain goats, bearded and bald eagles...) where one can admire the unique charm of mountain villages, snuggled up in narrow alpine valleys.
Day 1 :
Minivan transfer from Chamonix to Rhêmes Notre Dame (1 700 m). We start touring up the Doire alpine bowl and reach Benevolo mountain hut (2 285 m). There is plenty of time to go and explore the area near Punta Palettaz, and to enjoy a few turns back down to the hut.
Vertical gain: 600 m
Round trip to Punta de Calabre (3 445m), sitting across the French- Italian boarder. From the peak, the view is stunning: on the left the view embraces 3 Italian valleys numerous 3 000m peaks and the imperial looking Gran Paradise, at 4 060m Looking to the right, one can see the Vanoise range and the ski resort of Val d’Isère.
Vertical gain: 1 160 m / Vertical loss: 1 160 m.
Day 3 :
A beautiful tour up Basel pass (3 176m), and we drop into the alpine valley of Nivolet and the Chivasso mountain hut (2 604m). This is a wild and remote area which is is hard to access in winter.
Vertical gain : 890 m / Vertical loss: 570 m.
Day 4 :
We ski tour up diagonally to Fouraz pass ( 3 124m), ski down to the base of Grand Etret (3 200m) before climbing to the peak. After a scenic run down Grand Etret glacier, we ski to the base of Denti dei Breuil. Our skins back on our skis, we tour under Becca di Monciair and Ciaforon and finally to Vitorio Emanuel hut ( 2 735m)
Vertical gain : 900 m / Vertical loss: 750 m.
Organisation : One week before trip departure, the head-guide will contact by to answer your questions, and provide complementary information (i.e. touring gear, clothing, specific equipment etc.)
Guiding policy :The group is composed of 4 to 6 skiers maximum per guide. The Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix's guiding policy is one of the strictest in the mountain guiding industry.
This program is a general guideline for the trip. The guide alone can decide and apply changes in the program during the trip, according to weather and terrain conditions, skiers physical condition and skills.
Lodging :In catered mountain huts, nights in dormitories.
Meeting: 8h30 a.m. at the Compagnie des Guides in Chamonix (Participants may leave personal belongings in our office until group returns). The tour ends in Chamonix.
Nb of participant

- take out lunches and daily snacks,
- transportation by bus return trip to Chamonix
- Avalanche transceiver rental (DVA), shovel, probe and harness.

Documentation : ID or valid passport.
Having a repatriation insurance is mandatory. Cancellation insurance is highly recommended.
We provide optional insurance contracts for repatriation and trip cancellation (see booking form).
