Join us for a 2-day hike at the foot of Mont-Blanc, and immerse yourself in our mountains for an unforgettable experience. Discover the typical atmosphere of a hut nestled in the heart of a magnificent alpine hamlet just below Miage glacier. Our tour will cover the first leg of the Great Hiking network of the TMB (11 hiking legs). We will hike over Tricot pass (an optional trail called a “variante”) and make a loop above the Montjoie valley. Our itinerary does not present any major difficulty, only spectacular panoramas will take your breath away !

Day 1 : LES HOUCHES - COL DE VOZA - LE CHAMPEL - MIAGE HUT
The Doorway to Tour du Mont-Blanc hiked counter clockwise, is the village of Les Houches. We hike up the pleasant trail to Col de Voza, from where we can admire the Chamonix valley and its beautiful granite needles. We continue on down the Bionnassay alpine valley, with the impressive east face of Mont-Blanc right above us. The path drops and continues to the hamlet of Champel, before going up again to reach the stone houses of Chalets de Miage. The incredibly beautiful scenery invites us to take a halt and contemplate alpine Nature.
Up : 1055 m / Down : 570 m / Hiking Time : 6 H 00
Day 2 : COL DU TRICOT - BELLEVUE
The hike up to Tricot pass makes our morning gymnastics. The muscular awakening, the perfect method to get a health ! The panoramic view from the pass is rewarding. We continue to the Himalayan bridge going over the waters of Bionnassay glacier. What a thrill ! Our itinerary then joins the top of Bellevue cable car. We are back in Les Houches. We will consider the descent by cable car to reach the valley.
Up : 780 m / Down : 400 m / Hiking Time : 5 H 00
For safety reasons, the guide may modify the trek itinerary due to terrain, weather or other conditions.

LEVEL : The Doorway to Tour du Mont-Blanc is a trek for any fit people. 4 to 6 hours of hiking daily, and 400 to 600m (1200 to 2000ft) of average vertical gain each day. Hiking on comfortable trails without specific difficulty We carry a light backpack for the day hike. This program is ideal to experience multiday hike. For active people with some hiking experience on mountain trails.
ACCOMMODATION : 1 night in a mountain hut (in dormitory).
GUIDING : Each mountain leader guides groups of 10 people maximum. For maximum safety and quality guiding, a second mountain leader joins the group at 11 people.
Important : no booking accepted in our scheduled groups for people under the age of 18.
MEETING PLACE : 8.30am at the Compagnie des Guides in Chamonix on Day 1. You are welcome to come and meet your guide the evening before at our office at 6 pm.

INSURANCE : Our mountain leaders are self-employed professionals, and therefore covered under a liability insurance via the French Mountain Leaders Association (SNAM). As a tour operator, the Compagnie des Guides is also covered under a tour operator liability insurance contract (MMA IARD).
Repatriation and cancellation insurance are available from our office. Repatriation insurance is mandatory. We strongly recommend the purchase of cancellation insurance.
TRAINING : Good physical condition will allow you to make the most of your holiday. A month before the hike at least, we suggest you walk upstairs, rather than use the elevator. During the weekends you can run, walk or ride your bike to train for the hike. Doing a medical check-up before signing for the trip is recommended. Your guide should be informed of any medical treatment.
CLIMATE : Alpine weather can change suddenly, involving wide temperature variations. Temperatures also drop with altitude, and snow falls in summer are not rare. A high pressure moving in can also bring in cool air. You should anyhow bring warm clothes and be prepared for cold or very hot weather, while minimizing additional weight gain.
