A legendary hiking trip, Tour du Mont-Blanc is an absolute must and the ideal hiking tour to discover the alpine diversity and the rich heritage of three countries.
Designed for families and all ages, this program is perfectly adapted to the youngest and eldest hikers in search of fun discoveries and emotions. Daily hikes are selected to fit all levels. We will discover the natural treasures of the Contamines-Montjoie preserved area. We will also meet farmers at the alpine meadows to taste and enjoy their local products. We will spend the night at the Bonhomme hut at 2430m to immerse ourselves in this unique and beautiful environment! This program is a selection of the best mountain activities to enjoy unforgettable exciting holidays.
Luggage are transported to accommodations along the trip (except for the night of day 2). Group transfers, luggage transportation and lunches are taken care of by our mountain leader team. Our assistance minivan is driven by a mountain leader all along the hike. We only carry hiking essentials and fully enjoy the hike!
Day 1 : Les Houches – Chalet de Bionnassay Elevation gain : 650m / Elevation drop : 340m
We start our Tour of Mont-Blanc from Les Houches village. A beautiful and pleasant climb leads us to the Voza pass. Chamonix valley and its beautiful granite peaks give us a very nice spectacle. After reaching the summit of Les Houches mountain, we will head to the Charme (1 870m), our highest point of the day. From now on, it is a 360° panoramic view on Mont-Blanc range. We finish the day by a descend to the hamlet of Bionnassay. Night in a typical inn.
Day 2 : Val Montjoie – Refuge du Bonhomme Elevation gain : 1280m / Elevation drop : 250m
We return to the bottom of the Val Montjoie by a nice slope. The shuttle takes us back to the hamlet of Tresse to take us to Notre-Dame-de-la-Gorge. This is where our long and magnificent climb to the Col du Bonhomme begins. This path lead us across the nature reserve of Les Contamines-Montjoie, the landscape is splendid. We gradually take on altitude, the forests leave room for alpine and rocky fields under the Bonhomme pass. The ibexes are not far away ! Another effort, the refuge of Col du bonhomme opens its doors! No access to the luggage.
Day 3 : La Vallée des Glaciers – le col de la Seigne – Courmayeur
Elevation gain : 730m / Elevation drop : 1600m
Our itinerary joins the Chapieux village. We are in the Beaufortain alpine pastures, among the herds of sheep and cows. A shuttle lead us to the Ville des Glaciers. This is the starting point to our hike up to the Col de la Seigne (2 516m), the French-Italian border. The climb is pleasant, the pass opens up to a new horizon and a superb view on the south face of Mont-Blanc. Our descent gains the Lake Combal and later the Italian hamlet of the Visaille. Bus transfers to Courmayeur. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 4 : Le Grand Col Ferret - Champex Elevation gain : 760m / Elevation drop : 940m
The hike continues at Arnuva hamlet, after a transfer at the foot of Grand Col Ferret (2 537m), Italian-Swiss border. This is the steepest, shortest and most demanding climb. But once again, the panorama is sumptuous, we discover the impressive faces of Grandes Jorasses, those of the Triolet, and the emblematic tri-border summit called Mont Dolent. Our descent goes towards the village of La Fouly, passing by the Alpine chalet of La Peule (2 070m). From La Fouly, a transfer takes us to Champex village. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 5 : Bovine Elevation gain : 600m / Elevation drop : 500mThrough the forest, we gain the Plan de l’Au, located near Champex lake (1 482m). Little by little, we climb through a forest overlooking the Rhone valley and Martigny town. Taking a panoramic trail, we discover the Bovine alpine pasture (1 987m). This pasture offers a beautiful show. We continue our TMB to the Col de la Forclaz. Overnight at the Col de la Forclaz inn.
Day 6 : Col de Balme - Chamonix Elevation gain : 890m / Elevation drop : 900m
Our last day already... We begin our hike through the Alpine pastures of the Herbagères and a spruce forest to reach the Col de Balme (2 191m). We are crossing the border again before starting our descend to the alpine pastures of Balme upstream of Chamonix valley. Our loop is now complete, we finish this TMB in the village of Le Tour.
For safety reasons, the guide may modify the itinerary due to terrain, weather or other conditions.

LEVEL : Tour du Mont-Blanc Family hiking trip is a moderate trek. A minimum of 700m (2350ft) vertical gain and about 5 to 7 hours of hiking daily. Hiking on generally well-maintained mountain trails, sometimes including easy out-of-trail sections. For active people who don’t mind training to prepare for the hike. A great multiday hike for people with trekking experience. Minimum age recommended 10 years old.
ACCOMMODATION : 2 nights in mountain inns, 2 nights in hotels and 1 night in a mountain hut (in dormitory).
Please note : No access to your luggage on Day 2 (no road access to the hut). The bag should weigh under 33 pounds.
GUIDING : For maximum safety and quality guiding, each mountain leader guides groups of 12 people maximum.
MEETING PLACE : 8.30am at the Compagnie des Guides in Chamonix on Day 1.
You are welcome to come and meet your guide the evening before at our office at 6 pm.

Repatriation insurance is mandatory. We strongly recommend the purchase of cancellation insurance.

TRAINING : Good physical condition will allow you to make the most of your holiday. A month before the hike at least, we suggest you walk upstairs, rather than use the elevator. During the weekends you can run, walk or ride your bike to train for the hike. Doing a medical check-up before signing for the trip is recommended. Your guide should be informed of any medical treatment.
CLIMATE : Alpine weather can change suddenly, involving wide temperature variations. Temperatures also drop with altitude, and snow falls in summer are not rare. A high pressure moving in can also bring in cool air. You should anyhow bring warm clothes and be prepared for cold or very hot weather, while minimizing additional weight gain.
