The Legendary “Patrouille des Glaciers” takes place between Zermatt and Verbier, by way of Arolla. The event took place for the first time during the World War II. After an interruption between 1949 and 1984, this unique event is always the object of a very strong interest with the participants and with the public.
Follow the tracks of this race with a logistic assistance which allows you to concentrate on the necessary rhythm to reach Chamonix with Zermatt in three days!
Day 1: Starting from « Les Grands Montets » with the first lift. On the Top (3230m) we ski down on the Argentiere glacier (vertical loss 780m/ 2559ft) and skin up to Le Passon Mountain pass (3028m) and the Aiguille du Tour (3244m) (depending on the timetable).
We cross over the plateau de Trient, Ecandies pass (2796m) and ski down to Champex-le-lac (1480m). A short transfer to Le Chable-Verbier with a private minibus. Night at the Mont-Fort hut (2457m). Elevation gain: 1135m/ 3723ft Vertical loss: 2840m/ 9318ft
Day 2: Starting from the Mont-Fort hut (2457m) – La Chaux mountain pass (2940m) – Momin mountain pass (3015m), we reach the Momin-Rosablanche mountain pass (3336m).
Then we continue to skin up to La Barma (2458m)- Riedmatten mountain pass (2919m) and ski down to Arolla (2006m).
Elevation gain: 1707m/ 5600ft Vertical loss: 2070m/ 6791ft
La Chaux mountain pass
Day 3 : Starting from Arolla (2006m) we skin up to the Berthol pass (3268m)- tête blanche (3707m). A long descent to Zermatt (1690m).
Elevation gain: 1707m/ 5600ft Vertical loss: 2017m/ 6617ft

Skiing ability :
Preparing for the trip :One week before trip departure, the head-guide will contact by to answer your questions, and provide complementary information (i.e. touring gear, clothing, specific equipment etc.)
A minibus assistance will follow you during the trip; you will be able to change your clothes and re fill your snacks.
Guiding policy :The group is composed of 4 skiers maximum per guide.
The Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix's guiding policy is one of the strictest in the mountain guiding industry. This program is a general guideline for the trip. Accommodation : In catered mountain hut and hotel in Arolla (nights in dormitories).
Meeting point: 8 a.m. at hte cable car of "Les Grands Montets" in Argentiere.
End of the trip in Zermatt.
(Participants may leave personal belongings in our office until group returns.)
Winter 2017 tour price : 1 200€ (trip leaves with a minimum of 4).
Included in the package:
- Mountain guiding service,
- Half-board in mountain huts (dinner, breakfast and night),
- Lift access and shuttles during the tour,
- Avalanche transceiver (DVA), shovel, probe and harness rental
- Shuttle back to Chamonix

Having a repatriation insurance is mandatory. Cancellation insurance is highly recommended.
