Day1, December 31st : Val Ferret – Lavachey – Refuge Bonatti Elevation gain : 1 320ft.
The Italian Val Ferret is parallel to the South face of Mont Blanc range. An easy and varied snowshoe circuit leads us to the hamlet of Lavachey, where we will enjoy a typical Italian lunch. In the afternoon, we start the hike to Bonatti hut by crossing a larch forest before reaching an open land over the tree limit. Bonatti hut was built in 1998. It is probably the only refuge of its kind regarding comfort and space. Hot showers, comfortable and large dormitories, walls decorated with numerous pictures of Walter Bonatti's adventures.
Mara will welcome us with a special dinner for an unforgettable New Year's Eve!
