DATES :
Every day, from January to May, depending on the snow condition.

TIMING :
From the departure in Chamonix to the return down into the valley, you should allow 4 to 6 hours depending on the conditions and the route taken.

GUIDING :
Vallée Blanche is an off-piste and ungroomed ski run on glaciers, where caution is necessary.
Taking a qualified moutain guide is then the best way to fully enjoy the activity.
From his experience and local knowledge, he will know how to choose the appropriate route enabling you to enjoy this magnificiant scenery in total security.
The maximum number of persons per guide is 6, this number can change depending on the snow conditions.

TECHNICAL LEVEL REQUIRED :
Skiers must be able to control their speed, side-slip, ski at a safe speed and follow in tracks.
It requires at least red slope skiing ability (single black diamond).

Note for snowboarders:
The classic way down Vallée Blanche is not very steep, and therefore not recommended to snowboarders (long flat sections).  There are yet several steeper options, such as Petit and Grand Envers du Plan. To enjoy a safe run down, snowboarders should be skilled to ride off piste black diamond runs, involving steep and changing snow quality.
We more that strongly recommend the use of a telescopic single pole for help on the long flat glacier section of Mer de Glace.

SKI EQUIPMENT & CLOTHING :
Normal ski equipment is fine, however have your bindings checked. Your guide will provide the necessary safety equipment.
Clothing must be warm and wind-proof. You will also need gloves, a hat and sunglasses.
A ruck-sack is useful to allow you to carry a picnic and of course your camera !
