Skiing Mont Blanc is a dream that many ski tourers share.
Ski touring up to the summit of Mont Banc in the spring is a much greater effort than climbing is in the summer time. It requires a serious physical training and expert skiing skills, considering that the descent takes place after 7 or 8 hours of effort.

Moreover, it is necessary to be well- acclimatized to
altitude, and to master the technique of ice climbing.
As an achievement it can only be undertaken by expert ski-tourers, who have a solid experience in
this type of activity. In addition to the usual ski-touring equipment, it is fundamental to carry extra
protection against the cold (mittens, warm socks, a balaclava), as well as some mountaineering gear
( ice axe, crampons etc…). The weight of the pack must be taken into consideration.

DAY 1 :
We get ready for our climb. In the afternoon we ride the tram to Aiguille du Midi.
Crossing the North dome ridge to the Grand Mulet hut.(800m)

DAY 2 :
Wake-up at 2 am.
We ski tour to Mont Blanc du Tacul shoulder (4 100m), and to Mont Maudit saddle (4 280m).
Then we ski across to reach the Brenva pass, and we climb up to the summit of Mont Blanc (4 807m).
We ski down the same way, past the Cosmiques hut and down the Vallée Blanche.
We can also ski down the Grands Mulets way.
Vertical gain : 1 500m / Vertical drop : 2 500m (to Plan de l’Aiguille)

We used to ski tour up the “Grands Mulets “way to reach the summit of Mont Blanc. This route involves a subsequently long section under threatening seracs at the “Petit Plateau area”. Day after day, seracs naturally evolve as the glacier changes. After assessing the area at the time of the climb, the guide will choose the descending route appropriately.
