If you want to leave ski slopes, to take time to appreciate and to fully live the mountain :
This route gives you two days and one night of total immersion in the majestic area of the Vallée Blanche. This program is perfectly adapted to an initiation of ski touring, to get acquainted with the equipment and its use, while privileging the pleasure to be in the mountains.
Day 1: Departure by the Aiguille du Midi cable car, we ski easily to the Rognon pass, then follow the east face of the Mt Blanc du Tacul to get to La Combe Maudite where we will put our skins on.
In the middle of this chaos of crevasses, we cross the Combe Maudite to ascent the Entrèves pass (3 527 m), between the Tour Ronde and the Aiguille d’Entrèves.
We can appreciate the magnificent view of the Courmayeur Italian mountains, far to the Grand Paradis, and on the French side, from la Vanoise to the Ecrins massif.
We ski down toward the Géant seracs, then get to the Requin hut (2 512 m) to spend the night, perched on a rock outcrop surrounded by glacier and splendid granite towers.
Elevation gain: 350 m / Vertical loss: 1300m.
Day 2: Our objective is to climb up the Périades glacier, just in front of the refuge, to come by the big bowl at the bottom of the Tacul pass, leaving on our left near the Chandelle, the Clocher and this small very disentangled spur : the Epée du Tacul.
The run down is on big slopes, we then get to the glacier of the Tacul below the seracs of the Géant. We join the classic route of the Vallée Blanche to go down the Mer de Glace. According to the snow level, we ski all the way down to Chamonix or we stop at the Montenvers to catch the train.
Elevation gain: 600 m / Vertical loss: 1300m.
